On January 21 and 22, 2026, partners of the European Digital Twin on Smart Manufacturing project gathered in San Sebastián (Spain) for the fifth transnational meeting, hosted by GAIA. The event served as a key opportunity to assess the current status of the project, align next steps, and reinforce cooperation among educational, technological, and industrial stakeholders from different European countries.
Hosted at EKINN – Urban Innovation Hub, a benchmark space for innovation and entrepreneurship, the meeting helped move forward the project’s mission to foster skills development, training, and formal recognition of competencies in Digital Twin technologies for smart industry.
A European project bringing Digital Twin technology closer to industry and education
Digital Twin on Smart Manufacturing is a European initiative aimed at bridging the gap between education and the real needs of industry, particularly in the field of smart manufacturing. To achieve this, the project focuses on developing training content, assessment tools, and methodologies designed to prepare students, workers, and trainers in key technologies such as digital twins, advanced simulation, and connected industrial environments.
In this context, the project’s international dimension plays a crucial role. Collaboration between organizations from different countries enables knowledge sharing, the comparison of approaches, and the scaling of training and technological solutions with a European perspective aligned with the real challenges faced by today’s industrial ecosystem.
Connecting with technology companies
One of the highlights of the event was the series of meetings with technology companies, designed to foster direct interaction between the project and the industrial ecosystem, while strengthening dialogue between innovation, education, and business at an international level. Together with Immersia, we presented our solutions in digital twins, simulation, immersive training, and advanced industrial environments.

Together with Immersia, we presented our solutions in digital twins, simulation, immersive training, and advanced industrial environments. These sessions provided an opportunity to share expertise, identify potential areas for collaboration, and open the door to future pilots and international synergies, both within the project and with the participating organizations more broadly.
Being part of initiatives like this plays a strategic role in our international growth, helping us position our solutions at a European level, build strong partnerships beyond our borders, and actively support the real adoption of advanced technologies in industrial and educational settings.
Shaping the future of industry, step by step
The Digital Twin on Smart Manufacturing project continues to move forward in its mission to bring Digital Twin technologies closer to vocational education and training, industry, and industrial talent, contributing to a more digital, competitive, and future-ready industrial landscape.
Taking part in European initiatives such as this strengthens our commitment to international cooperation, applied innovation, and scalable solutions, all of which are essential to supporting industry and training organizations in their shift towards more advanced, connected, and global operating models.
