It has already been demonstrated that the digitalization of knowledge can be highly beneficial in optimising industrial operations, as it allows operators to be guided through procedures without the need for expert personnel.
In this regard, our client Grupo Navec has recently been awarded by Dow with the ‘Innovation Award’ for its initiative and commitment to digitalisation.
The business group has implemented our SAAM operations digitisation tool to perform preventive maintenance rounds at Dow, which has significantly improved access to information and consequently streamlined technical diagnostics.
SAAM's profits in the Dow maintenance rounds
Thanks to this tool, it has been possible to digitalise the knowledge that the expert staff has accumulated over the years at the Dow plant in Tarragona and make it available to the operators in an easy and intuitive way.
In fact, the documentation attached to the tasks, including photographs, videos and documents, has helped the technical team to have all the information they need to carry out the procedure.
In addition, SAAM has allowed them to increase the quality of the interventions, as they have to validate each of the steps they carry out during preventive maintenance, which reduces the possibility of making mistakes in the procedure.
On the other hand, classification and improved access to information has led to advances in the identification of the reasons that prevent tasks from being carried out in the field, such as marking out, shutting down or stopping machinery, or different anomalies detected in the machinery.
In this sense, moreover, the ability to enter tolerances on critical equipment allows operators to reduce risks, as the process automatically guides them along one path or another depending on whether the data entered is within these tolerances or not.
Another benefit that SAAM has brought them is the improved organisation of maintenance work, as it allows them to design periodic and punctual plans, schedule them and assign a technician to them, who is informed through the integrated notification system.
The automatic reporting generated and the integration of systems, on the other hand, makes it possible for DOW to query trade execution data in real time and thus have a greater capacity for analysis.
There is no doubt that the digitisation of technical operations is here to stay thanks to the many advantages it provides.
